Psychology Specialization
Academic aims:
- Training specialists in the domain of Psychology aims at acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills, behaviours and attitudes, in a coherent approach, reflected by the academic curriculum and in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Qualifications National Framework worked out in 2011.
- Developing professional and transversal skills in accordance with the Romanian Higher Education Operational System of Qualifications, in general and specific to the Psychology domain.
The professional skills acquired by the Psychology graduates are:
- Operating upon the fundamental concepts in the Psychology domain
- Designing and doing the research work
- The critical evaluation of the problematical situations and of the possible solutions
- The psychological evaluation of the individual, group and organization
- Designing and performing psychological interventions
- Relationships and interpersonal communication
The transversal skills:
- Practicing the professional tasks according to the deontological principles specific to this domain
- Applying the efficient teamwork techniques at the different hierarchical levels
- Self-evaluation of the continuous training needs in order to adapt the professional skills to the social context dynamics
At the end of the bachelor’s degree studies with the duration of 3 years, the graduates obtain the Degree Diploma in Psychology and also the necessary skills in order to get into the professional supervision programs, in accordance with the provisions of Law 213 and to the regulations of the Romanian Psychologists’ College.
Supervision in order to obtain the certificate of independent practice is given by master’s degree studies, postgraduate courses or professional courses provided by institutions authorized by the College of Psychologists in Romania.
The skill areas followed during university enable graduates practicing the profession of psychologist in the following specialties:
- psychologist in the domain of work, organizational, transports and services psychology:
- individual consulting rooms of working, organizational, transports and services psychology;
- psychology consulting rooms in polyclinics;
- psychologist in industrial, financial and banking organizations;
- psychologist in human resources;
- psychologist specialized in the sporting psychology;
- counselling psychologist in govern and non-government organizations;
- psychologist in the legal domain, criminal psychologist and psychologist in penitentiaries.
- Psychologist in the domains of psychotherapy, clinical and counselling psychology:
- individual consulting rooms in psychotherapy and psychological counselling;
- clinical psychologist in hospitals, polyclinics, sanatoriums and recovery clinics;
- counselling psychologist in clinics and psychology consulting rooms.
- Psychologist in the domain of education:
- teacher psychologist in the secondary and higher education;
- school psychologist in the school psychology consulting rooms;
- psychologist for school and vocational counselling within psychology consulting rooms in schools, colleges, universities and individual consulting rooms.
- Psychologist in the domain of national security.
The psychology graduates can work as:
- school psychologist in institutions within County Education Boards or Inspectorates, county centres of educational resources and assistance (CJRAE);
- clinical psychologists, counseling psychologists or psychotherapists in hospital and clinics;
- psychologists in work and organizational psychology, professional evaluation and recruitment, HR management, acting as counseller for institutions and organizations with responsibilities in the domains of workforce, professional training and conversion within the Workforce County Agency;
- psychologists in the child protection services within the National Department of Child Social and Protection;
- psychologists specialized in psychodiagnosis evaluation and therapy for people with special needs within the national Authority for Handicapped people, special schools and foundations;
- psychologists in the legal domain within penitentiaries, county police inspectorates, antidrug services, mediation centres or other institutions within Home Affairs Ministry.
